Designing My Dream Wedding Dress

Happy Wedding Wednesday everyone- I am super excited to write about the beginning process of designing my wedding dress. I wanted to share my experience with the bridal salon I selected to help me design my dream dress. If you are a Denver bride looking to try on dresses visit https://www.somethingnewboutique.com/

I decided to use a bridal shop in Colorado Springs called Something New Boutique. This boutique had a classy and elegant feel to it. They have grown so much the last couple of years the bridal shop is now breaking ground on a new building April 17th. It was the popular place to be for Colorado brides that Saturday afternoon.

The owner Mindi, greeted me at the door and walked me to my own bridal suite . As I walked inside I noticed about 5 other brides there, but Mindi and her team did a great job to make me feel as though I was the only bride in the room.

  • They start off by sitting down and asking a ton of personal questions to get to know you. I loved that they had an interest in knowing JJ and I’s love story and wanted to get to know me as a bride.

  • Mindi talked through the three main dress shapes ball gown, A-Line, and trumpet.

  • She then takes you back to the dresses where she has the store laid out by dress shapes, which then she asked me to pick one dress from each row.

  • This was super helpful because I was able to figure out fast what shape was best for my body.

  • I decided that “Trumpet” style was the best fit on my body figure.

  • After I picked the shape I liked best, she had me go back and try different dresses on from that row.

I quickly came to find that I had a very specific style in mind and it was time to discuss designing options. Mindi was great trying to put my vision together in the bridal salon. She had me analyze the two dresses pictured above and told her what I liked about each and what I did not like. She put my thoughts together and is working with her designer to start the sketching process! I am so excited for round two with Mindi and her team. Although I didn’t say “yes” to the dress this go around, I have a feeling I might be saying yes during round two!

Lastly, I wanted to also tell you guys about her very own bridal line Brooklyn Grace. Mindi Created her own bridal line inspired by her daughter, Brooklyn. The best part about this bridal line is Mindi donates a portion of the proceeds to “Exodus Roads.” This organization helps fight against human trafficking through prevention, rescue and survivor care. I wanted to make sure on my big day I wore a Brooklyn Grace design to help spread the word on Human Trafficking.
